i need to name a character in my story and i cant think of one... lol i have ALREADY used Alex,Chris,Jacob, Patrick,Pete,Joe and Andy. so a name that isnt one of those is great.

Reply:the names you've chosen are all short names. if i were reading a book i think i'd confuse me about who is who. why don't you put in some variations. like a french or foreign name, Bernard or Gustave...an aristocratic name Philip or George, a funky name like Pete, Andy, Jacob. that would make it easier for the reader.


this is my opinion, and i'm a very, very keen reader. but i find these short names confusing.
Reply:Try something a little more unusual, those names are pretty common and forgettable. The name I'm loving right now is Silas (SYE-las) and my best friend is considering naming her son Avi (which I would pronounce "AH-vee" but she says "A-vee" with the A like the a in cat)

Reply:I like the name Samuel. You can use Sam or Sammy. I wouldn't use any name that are too out there because all the names you used are fairly commen so I feel you should pick a name that fits. If not Sam how about Brian, Micheal, or Connor?
