I was just thinking of the name Antonio. What do you think of naming a boy that who is english, not italian?

I was thinking it may sound too pretentious of you're not of the right ethnicity. No good reason for asking, just popped into my head.

I understand that you aren't sure about using that name, but it really is a good one.


As people move all over the world, people hear new names and the lines between cultures soften. I think Antonio will do very well for an English man.

Reply:if you're afraid of seeming pretentious, you could make it Anthony, but i really see nothing wrong with Antonio. Besides, he could end up going by Tony either way,anyhow.





PS Antonio Bandares isn't Italian. And if you do name your son/future son Antonio and people ask, you could just tell them you're a fan of Banderes, or something. But really, it should need no explanation. It's a nice name, regardless of ethnicity.

Reply:I think Antonio is fine for a child who is english. My nephews name is Marcus Antonio after his father Antonio Marc and is also english.

Reply:I think its fine to name outside of your ethnicity. I know that if I saw the name I would think of someone that was italian though. I children named stefano and efastino but they are very italian and there parents names are luiciana and salvatore. It's up to you though. Some other suggestions might be...

Reply:Try the name Harrison. It is a good english name. Remember when the child is in school or applying for a job that they will have a preconceived idea of that person based on their name before they even step foot in the place.

I think Antonnio is a fantastic name. If you can nick name him Anton or Tony.
Reply:Te he he .... Im Italian ....well Australian but parents are Italian ..... and i LOVE THAT NAME .... its a reallllly nice name for a little boy and for a grown man


dont worry about what any one thinks if you like the name GO for it .... also he can shorten his name to Tony when he grows up if he wishes ....

I dont' think you have to be Spanish or Italian to call your son like that. There are many people in Latin America who are actually Spanish and give their children English names.
