My wife and I are trying to decide on a boy name for our baby. We like the name the Fisher, but can't decide if the kid will get made fun of for that name. Any thoughts?
What do you think of the name Fisher for a boy?
Yah, he'll get made fun of for it. You don't want him to come home and say, "Joe Blow asked me how many fish I caught today!" do you?
Reply:they might make fun of him but.. fisher sounds more like a last name keep looking to find other names too
Reply:He'll probably be in a whole classroom full of Hunters as well as Chandlers, Coopers, Carters, and other outdated occupations. At least some people do still fish for a living so it's not too bizarre. Personally I like the name Farrier. It means the same as Blacksmith but Smith is too common to be a good first name.
Reply:I prefer Hunter, Hutton, or Laken.
Reply:I see teasing in his future.
Reply:i definetly think he will be made fun of like "did you catch any fish today, or something smells fishy it must be the fisher"... also, this name seems more like a last name, so it would sound like he has 2 last names.
Reply:It's cute, i think he may get a little made fun of, but not severely.
I personally couldn't use it, because it's too many people's last name. If you don't mind that then go for it :)
Reply:Well it's not really a bad name but I'm sure he would be made fun of. He would have to be a pretty good fisher ;)
Reply:That was one on my list, but couldn't use it because our last name is Potter. Fisher Potter didn't sound good. I like it. I also like:
Fletcher
Carter
Deacon
Calen (Kaelan pronounce Kay-Lan)
Dallin (Dall-in)
Daylan(Day-Lin)
Lathan
Gavin
Deacon, Calen, and Dallin are my sons' names. I like Fisher, if it sounds good with your last name and you like it go for it!! Congrats!!
Reply:I think it's really cute. It's not overly common either, which is nice. I don't really think that he would get made fun of for the name. People are naming their kids such crazy things these days and Fisher is very normal compared to everything else you hear now.
Reply:Doesn't matter what the kid's name is, unless he's the bully he's going to get made fun of for something. Don't worry about that when you're naming him - kids have too short attention spans for enough bullying to psychologically scar their victim just because of their name. Besides, I love the name Fisher.
I have a friend called Daniel Fisher (Fisher being his surname but he goes by Fisher instead of Daniel) and he so flaunts his name to make girls laugh as he recites all the cheesy looking-to-catch, wanna-hook-up, fishin-for-compliments jokes he can possibly think of. His middle name is Angel so his initials are DAF.. So obviously he lived with the name Daphne for a while. But for some reason when he's out on the pull that one doesn't come up..
:P
Reply:I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT !
It is becoming a little more common and I don't think they would have issues with it !
Reply:as long as your last name isn't Price... lol
I think its a good name even tho its usually a last name... kind of reminds me of Hunter
Reply:i prefer brigham. landon, or nicholas
Reply:I personally think Fisher is cute for a boy. I know a little boy named Fisher and he seems to be just fine in school. Seriously, there are some really unique names out there...I think Fisher will be ok. Just remember it really doesn't matter what your name is...kids will find something to tease other kids about.
